The US election results have not yet been announced, but Republicans already have reason to celebrate and will take over the Senate. Democrats lost decisive battles in Ohio, West Virginia, Texas, and Nebraska. Today may be an important day for this party. Everything points to Donald Trump winning and retaining his majority in the House of Representatives. Let's remember that they also have a “majority” on the Supreme Court.
The Associated Press reported that Republicans will hold the Senate majority based on the results of previous Senate showdowns in Ohio, West Virginia, Texas and Nebraska. It remains to be seen how much of an advantage Republicans will have in the Senate, and whether they will be able to maintain a majority in the House.
US elections. Republicans will control the Senate
Republican Bernie Moreno defeated Sherrod Brown, who had held the Ohio seat for 18 years, and secured the Senate majority. This is the second time a Republican has won the seat, after Jim Justice, who succeeded Joe Manchin, won as expected in West Virginia.
Democrats had slim hopes of taking over the U.S. Senate seats held by Ted Cruz of Texas and Deb Fischer of Nebraska, but those races were decided in favor of Republicans. This means politicians from Donald Trump's party will win at least 51 seats in the 100-member Senate. Republican Jim Sheehy is also likely to defeat Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in Montana.

The size of the Republican victory could be even larger, but races in Michigan, Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin, where Democrats are defending seats, remain undecided. In Arizona, Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego is the clear favorite.
It was predicted even before the election that the Republicans would return to power in the Senate, due to the fact that in this election they had to defend more seats than the Democrats held (only 3 voters are elected every two years). (elects only one-third of the Senate). A right-wing victory means, among other things: If Mr. Trump returns to the White House, it is likely that conservatives will have a stronger advantage on the Supreme Court.

It remains undecided which party will hold a majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans hold a four-seat majority there. So far, Republicans have held 177 seats and Democrats have held 144 seats, with clear favorites winning most of these races. Most of the dozens of races considered close remain unresolved.
