President Donald Trump's administration will focus on achieving peace in Ukraine, not on reclaiming territory captured by Russia, said Brian Lanza, an adviser to President Donald Trump. – If President Zelensky comes and says that peace can only be achieved if Ukraine has Crimea, it shows that he is not serious – he says
Brian Lanza, an adviser to President Donald Trump, addressed the new presidential administration's plans regarding Ukraine in an interview with the BBC. As he said, President Trump's staff will expect a “realistic vision of peace” from Volodymyr Zelensky.
“If President Zelensky comes and says that peace can only be achieved if Ukraine has Crimea, that shows that President Zelensky is not serious,” he said. “Crimea is gone,” he added.
War in Ukraine. President Donald Trump's adviser: 'Recovery of Crimea is not a US goal'
Lanza said taking Crimea back from Russia is “unrealistic” and “not a goal of the United States.” President Donald Trump's adviser did not mention Russian-occupied territory in eastern Ukraine. – If your priority is to take back Crimea and have US soldiers fight to take it back, then you should act yourself, he stressed.
As the BBC points out, American soldiers are not fighting in Ukraine, and Kiev has not asked American troops to fight alongside Ukrainian soldiers.

During the meeting, he was also critical of current support for Ukraine by both the Biden administration and European countries. “The reality is that European countries and President Joe Biden denied Ukraine the opportunity and the weapons to win from the beginning and failed to lift restrictions[on the use of transferred arms],” he said.
Brian Lanza worked with Donald Trump during the 2016 and 2024 campaigns. After this year's elections, the two sides ended their cooperation.
Ukraine's plan to win the war. Concerns after the election of President Donald Trump
In October, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy presented a “victory plan”. Five of the eight items declassified are:
Invite Ukraine to join NATO and strengthen the defense of Ukraine by allies. This includes not only enabling the use of allied long-range weapons on Russian territory, but also the continuation of military operations in enemy territory, the deployment of non-nuclear strategic deterrents in Ukraine, and the defense of Ukraine. The exploitation of Ukraine's natural resources by the European Union and the United States enabled its allies to tap into its economic potential, while Ukrainian forces replaced some of the American forces in Europe after the end of the war.
During the campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly vowed to end the war in one day and questioned U.S. aid to Ukraine.
The election of Donald Trump as president has raised concerns among Ukraine's military, according to a report in the Financial Times. Some argued that Ukraine would lose some territory if U.S. aid ceased.
