Residents of Valencia took to the streets to demand the resignation of local authorities. Up to 130,000 people took part in the protests. Spaniard. More than 200 people died at the time, and hundreds of thousands of residents received no warning of the disaster.

Residents are furious at the way the local government handled the floods. Many people did not receive warnings about this threat, but since the entire city was already under water, many received warnings when the water reached their necks. Local residents believe such a dramatic outcome could have been prevented if authorities had acted sooner rather than later.

The head of Valencia's government, Carlos Mazon, was under enormous pressure, especially as the Met Office had warned of heavy rain days before the tragedy.
As a result of the flooding, which began on the night of October 29, 220 people died and nearly 80 are still missing. Unofficially, there are reports that up to 300 people died.

There were clashes with police during the protests. According to the Guardian, the riot broke out in front of Valencia's city hall. The use of batons was compulsory for service activities. British newspapers reported that many of the marchers held handmade placards and chanted “Mazon stand down!”

Some of the banners held up included inscriptions such as “You killed us'' and “Our hands are stained with mud and yours are stained with blood.'' Some demonstrators threw muddy shoes and clothes in front of the entrance to Valencia's regional government headquarters as part of their protest.
