The Orion Nightclub in Prague has become a popular hangout for Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic.
Local media has been reporting for weeks complaints from residents about the behavior of newcomers from Eastern Europe. The Ukrainians are accused of lewd acts. People broke glass bottles on the asphalt, littered the surrounding area, and attacked police officers.
During the night between Saturday and Sunday, the situation changed completely. A security guard entered the club.
Prague. Police intervene in club for Ukrainians
Police sealed off the entrance to the Orion Club and checked the IDs of those who had gathered. At that time, about 30 police officers entered.
A Czech police spokesperson reported that a total of more than 100 people were tested, most of them Ukrainian nationals.
Two foreign nationals were detained during the intervention. Their identities could not be confirmed as they did not have any documents. During the investigation, two 17-year-old girls were also found to be staying at Orion. Both drunken children were handed over to their parents.
Orion's manager emphasizes the Ukrainian character of the place. Their social media posts are in Ukrainian. The club itself is only open twice a week, on Fridays and Saturdays.
