Pakistan. the wedding ended in tragedy
At least 14 people were killed while returning from a wedding by bus. Many people are still missing, and rescue and search operations continue. There were 25 people in the car, and only the bride was rescued so far. The bus fell into the river, and authorities' preliminary findings indicate that the driver failed to adjust the speed and lost control of the vehicle.
The tragedy occurred in northern Pakistan on Wednesday. A bus carrying guests returning from a wedding fell into a river. So far, 14 bodies have been discovered. Ten people are still missing. Only the bride is still alive. The woman was admitted to a hospital in Gilgit.

– There were 25 people on board the bus, and 14 bodies have been recovered so far, with 10 still missing, Wazir Asad Ali, head of the local emergency services, told AFP in an interview. “The bride is safe and has been admitted to a hospital in Gilgit,” it added.
According to the authorities' preliminary findings, excessive speed was the cause of the accident. Naik Alam, a senior police official in the area where the accident occurred, said the driver appeared to have lost control on a curve.

AFP highlights that road accidents with large numbers of fatalities occur very frequently in Pakistan. Road regulations and safety measures are not respected there. Additionally, many professional drivers are inexperienced and lack proper training. The number of traffic accidents is also influenced by road infrastructure, and there is a lot of room for improvement.
