On Thursday (November 21), the Kossalin district court issued a verdict in connection with the January 2021 tragedy. Five teenage girls died in a fire that broke out in an escape room in Koszalin. Four people were sitting on the stand: Milosh S., Malgorzata V., Beata V. and Radoslav D.
Court of Kossalin sentenced Milos S. to two years of imprisonment and for 10 years from the activity of business services related to culture, sports and entertainment. Radoslav D.
Both women were deprived of liberty for one year, deprived of activity for 3 years and deprived of business activity for 10 years.
In addition, the court awarded compensation to the parents in the amount of 200,000 PLN for each family.

Tragedy on the birthday of a teenager
On the afternoon of January 4, 2019, five teenagers, students of the third grade of secondary school No. 9 (now primary school No. 18): Julia, Karolina, Victoria, Malgosia and Amelia, celebrated the birthday of one of them in an escape room in Kossalyn.
– On my birthday, I was supposed to be with the children and take care of them. Unfortunately, I received an order from my former company to come, said the father of one of the girls. – I carry this burden even today and maybe I will carry it until the end of my life, because then I should have been with my children, – he admits.
At the same time, there was a fire. The first information about the fire was received by the operator of the emergency number at 17:13. It is also known that the teenagers themselves also called. They were able to tell that there was a fire and they stayed inside and waited for help. – The smoke is terrible, what should be done? – they shouted before disconnecting.

When firefighters put out the fire, reporters and parents who arrived at the scene were notified of the death of all the girls inside. The prosecutor's office found the cause of the fire to be gas leakage from the cylinders supplying the building's heaters.
The purpose of the fire was also to prevent an escape room employee from reaching the trapped girls. The man burned and did not open the door for the girls. They could only do this after solving the last puzzle. There was no escape in the facility. The only window in the room was boarded up from the inside and blocked from the outside. The girls were poisoned by carbon monoxide.
On January 10, 2019, teenagers were buried in the municipal cemetery of Kossalin.

Prosecutor's investigation and indictment
The investigation by the prosecutor's office of Kos-Salin region lasted for two years. The indictment included four people: Milosh S., his grandmother Malgorzata V., mother Beata V. and Radoslav D. These are the people who ran, organized and worked on the escape room at Kossalyn. Milos S., from Poznań, was the main organizer of the escape room and the first suspect in the case. Three others were indicted on the same charge in October 2019: Malgorzata V., the grandmother of the escape room organizer who recorded the activity, Beata V., the mother of the suspect who cooperated in the activity, and Radoslav D., the escapee. room attendant who was at the scene of the fire.
They were accused of willfully violating fire safety regulations and unintentionally causing the death of five people. None of the accused pleaded guilty.
