KIA Polska has informed the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection about a service campaign for the Optima HEV and Sportage models, the office announced on Thursday. The campaign covered more than 18,000 vehicles that may have been damaged by short circuits and fires in the engine compartment.
KIA Polska has informed the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Rights that KIA Sportage (model code SLe) manufactured in Slovakia from March 12, 2010 to January 24, 2014 may have a malfunction in the HECU (hydraulic) system. In affected vehicles, symptoms may include a malfunction warning light (MIL) and/or ABS warning light, as well as smoke and a burning smell coming from the engine compartment and HECU components.
As stated in the announcement, the repair campaign in Poland covers 18,172 such cars.
Dangerous defect in KIA cars
According to the second announcement on Thursday by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection about KIA's service campaign, the same defect, which causes similar symptoms, can be found in KIA Optima HEV (model code TF HEV) vehicles, which will be sold in South Korea from 28 It was produced in October. 2010 and 12 December 2013 The repair campaign in the Polish market covers 12 copies of this model version.
