On Thursday evening, the Seimas discussed the government's bill on extending maternity leave for parents of premature babies. – I call on all the representatives of this hall to support the good law – said Agnieszka Jemjanović-Bak, Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy.
On Thursday evening, the Seimas started working on the government's amendment to the Labor Code with the first reading. The system introduces additional leave for parents of premature babies and those hospitalized after birth.
– It is very rare that we in this chamber have the opportunity to work on a bill whose correctness does not raise any doubts. Support for them is possible beyond all political divisions. We are working on such a project today, – said the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy Agnieszka Dziemianovych-Bak.
He emphasized that the project was prepared together with the social aspect, that is, with organizations that unite parents of premature babies. The head of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Tajikistan emphasized that currently parents of children born prematurely have the same rights as those whose children were born on time (after the 37th week of pregnancy).
As the minister noted, “however, it is difficult to call it a holiday when a parent cannot even hug his child.” – I call on all the representatives of this hall from left to right to support this good law. Let us show that a powerful state is a caring, sensitive and caring state, he added.
What the project envisages

But for parents of children who were born before the 36th week of pregnancy or were born on term, but require hospitalization – a maximum of eight weeks.
