Dutch police discovered nearly two kilos of the drug MDMA hidden in a garden gnome sculpture. “Every once in a while we come across something special,” police said in a statement.
“Torches come in all shapes and sizes, but every now and then we come across something special,” Dutch police wrote in a statement about the discovery in Dongemond.
The garden gnome was discovered when police seized a large quantity of drugs as part of a major police operation.

“The dwarf himself was shocked,” the police added jokingly, posting a photo of the statue with its mouth closed.
The world's leading producer of MDMA
MDMA, which is very popular and banned in the Netherlands, is an ecstasy pill that contains a psychoactive substance. Until 2019, the Netherlands was one of the leading producers of MDMA in the world – the BBC recalled, adding that this was not the first case when someone tried to hide the drug in an unusual package.
Last year, a Scotsman was jailed for more than four years for trying to smuggle more than £84,000 worth of MDMA into the country in cat food.
