Guinness Book of World Records awarded diplomas to the world's tallest and shortest women
A special encounter between two unique people: the shortest woman and the tallest woman in the world. Rumeisa Gherji, who is 215 cm tall, and Jyoti Amge, who is 62.8 cm tall, appeared in London to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Guinness World Records Day. The world's tallest woman is Rumaysa Ghergui from Turkey, who is 215 cm tall. On the other hand, India's Jyoti Amge is only 62.8 cm tall. The two women were invited to London to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Guinness World Records Day.
The women were awarded the Guinness Book of World Records Icons title at the luxurious The Savoy Hotel in the British capital.
As stated on the official Guinness website, encounters between the world's tallest and shortest women don't happen every day. “But it's always magical when different worlds like this collide,” he added.
“Guinness World Records is, above all, a celebration of difference,” said the book's editor-in-chief, Craig Glenday.

Despite the record holders being 1.5 meters apart in height, the women really liked each other. Both are full of life and passion. During the conversation, they admitted that they love makeup and nail polish.
– It was a great meeting, said Mr. Gergi. – She is the most amazing woman in the world – she added.

“I'm used to looking up and seeing people taller than me,” Amge said. “But this time I was very happy to meet the tallest woman in the world,” she said.
Unfortunately, both women are battling illness. Gergi has Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic disease that causes rapid growth and skeletal deformities. Meanwhile, Amju suffers from achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism.
