The first results of the investigation into the DHL plane that crashed near Vilnius Airport have been revealed. The plane took off from Leipzig airport. A German Interior Ministry spokesperson said there was no evidence yet that Russia was sabotaging the attack. “So far, there is no indication that the disaster is related to the shipping alert,” he said.
On Monday morning, a transport plane from logistics company DHL crashed into a residential building near Vilnius Airport. One of the pilots was killed and several others are believed to have been injured in the accident.
Lithuania's airport reported online that the plane was flying from Leipzig Airport in Germany. A German Interior Ministry spokesperson said there was so far no indication that the disaster was linked to the summer warning against cargoes carrying incendiary devices. Despite careful screening at the airport, employees found no danger. One of the shipments reportedly caused a fire at the transport company's base in Jablonow, near Warsaw, and the semi-trailer of the truck was gutted. The second explosion occurred at Leipzig airport.
“Fortunately, the package caught fire on the ground and not in flight,” said Thomas Haldenwang, head of the German Constitutional Defense Agency.

Police Commissioner Arunas Pauluskas also spoke about the preliminary results of the police operation in an interview with the LRT.lt portal. Police said investigators had already gone to the hospital where one of the pilots was admitted and were attempting to question him.

Asked by journalists whether there was a possibility of terrorism, Arunas Paulauskas said such an interpretation “cannot be ruled out.”
