The leaders of the assembly of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship appeal to maintain the work of the Sierza power station in Trzebinia. It is planned to close this plant by the end of 2025.
The members of the council addressed their appeal to Tauron Vitvarzani and authorities, institutions and people who influence the energy sector. The decision to close the plant on December 31, 2025 is related to the decarbonization of the energy industry and the green policy of the European Union.
The rulers of Malopolska justify their opposition to the abolition by the social and economic consequences. This is mainly due to the loss of almost 500 people who work at the plant and the companies directly serving it.
Abolition without alternative
