North Korea plans to expand its major arms production complex, which will include, among other things: Short-range missiles used by Russia are being assembled in Ukraine, Reuters reported. In addition, another facility is planned to be built nearby, this time likely to be a residential building for the employees of the aforementioned factory.
The satellite images were taken over North Korea in early October by commercial satellite company Planet Labs. Experts at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), who conducted the analysis, said the photos show an assembly plant that is currently being expanded. It is likely that missiles were manufactured in this building, sent to the Kremlin, and used in the war against Ukraine.

There is a new facility next door, probably for employees. Expert analysis also indicates that North Korea is improving entrances to some underground facilities throughout the complex, Reuters said.

The facility, known as February 11, is part of the Yongsong Machinery Complex in Hamhung, North Korea's second largest city.
North Korea supplies arms to Russia
Sam Rea, who works for CNS, told the station that the facility is the only facility known to manufacture Hwasong-11 solid-fuel ballistic missiles. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian side believes that the ammunition, known in the West as KN-23, was used by Russian forces during the Kiev attack.
“We believe that they have significantly increased or are about to significantly increase the throughput of this plant,” Rea acknowledged. The new assembly plant will be approximately 60-70% larger than the previous plant.
So far, Russia and North Korea have remained silent about Kim Jong Un arming the Kremlin. Thousands of North Korean soldiers were sent to Russia, and Ukrainian and American intelligence agencies collected evidence in the case.
