German police find more than 100 homing pigeons in 42-year-old Polish man's car
The Poles surprised officers in German uniforms. A 42-year-old man was stopped on the highway and had more than 100 pigeons in his car. His further travels were halted because laws in neighboring countries to the west do not allow such treatment of animals.
The incident took place on the A1 motorway between Hamburg and Lübeck. German police stopped there and searched the car, driven by a 42-year-old Polish national.

When the officers looked inside, they stopped at a dead end. It turned out that our compatriots were transporting 103 homing pigeons in a Volkswagen Passat.
The birds were hidden in five wooden boxes placed in the trunk and back seat of the car, Bild daily wrote.

The Polish man explained that he had a hobby with pigeons and had just bought them from a German breeder. He added that he wanted to transport them to Poland. However, his plans did not come true.

Officers determined that the method of transporting the birds violated animal welfare regulations. For the sake of the birds, police prevented the Poles from driving any further. The pigeons were returned to the seller, but the 42-year-old had to find a more suitable means of transportation.
