After a discussion with Ursula von der Leyen on the new team and program, MEPs voted on the new composition of the European Commission. 370 MPs voted in favor of adoption, 282 opposed, and 36 abstained.
688 out of 720 MEPs voted on the composition of the European Commission. Of these, 370 were in favor, 282 were against, and 36 abstained. President of the European Parliament Roberta Mezzola signed the appropriate letter confirming Ursula von der Leyen's selection in the team and congratulated the President of the European Commission.

Piotr Serafin, representative of Poland, will be appointed commissioner in charge of budget, fraud prevention and administration. “He is a skilled negotiator and will work with the council and parliament towards a budget that better addresses the challenges and can be implemented quickly,” Ursula von der Leyen said of him.
She added that Poles were responsible for shaping a multi-year financial framework. – Budgets are often very complex, funding the same thing in different ways with different programs, so you need to focus more on investing in your priorities. Piotr Serafin will therefore be responsible for shaping the future multi-year financial framework, he added.
The new European Commission will begin its mandate after being formally appointed by the European Council on 1 December 2024.
Before the vote, Ursula von der Leyen introduced her team and said they were all “ready to get to work.” She mentioned wars in Ukraine, the Middle East and parts of Africa. “Europe must play a stronger role in all these areas,” he said, stressing that his priority was the security of all European countries.
“Europe's security has always been this Commission's priority,” she added.
