At least 15 people have been killed and 113 missing in a landslide triggered by heavy rains in eastern Uganda, Ugandan police said on Thursday.
The police wrote on Platform X: “A total of 15 bodies were found and 15 injured people were helped. Earlier, eight people, mostly children, and 30 people were missing. A landslide occurred in the village of Masugu, Bulambuli district, on the border with In Kenya, not only people were killed, but also many domestic animals were drowned in the mud.
– At least 20 houses were buried and destroyed – Sara Madada, responsible for crisis management in Bulambula, said at a press conference.
Flooding in the northwest
Uganda has experienced heavy rains in recent days.
In the north-west of the country, after the Tangi river flooded, it flowed into the White Nile. Four of the eight passengers of the taxi, which was washed away by the river, drowned. A soldier who wanted to reach them in a lifeboat.
