Wojciech Olejniczak will not be arrested – lawyer Jakub Wende announced on the X platform. The court also applied other preventive measures against him. The operation with the remaining detainees continues in Katowice. According to the National Prosecutor's Office, the case concerns economic crimes.
On Thursday, the 23rd, the former Minister of Agriculture and former head of the SLD, Wojciech Olejniczak, left the Katowice Prosecutor's Office and was taken to court, where a detention hearing was held.
– Now the court announced its decision on the prosecutor's request for preliminary arrest against Wojciech Olejniczak. The district court did not accept the application. We will go home with the client – wrote Wende.
The National Prosecutor's Office confirmed these reports. It is also known that other preventive measures have been taken against Wojciech Olejniczak. He is banned from leaving the country and is under police control. The amount of property guarantee is one million zlotys. RMF FM radio reported this for the first time.
As TVN24 reporter Katarzin Mikulec found out, the operation with the remaining five people is continuing in Katowice. Prosecutor Tomas Tadla reported that not all people have received an application for temporary detention.
This case concerns crimes of an economic nature
CBA agents arrested six people in Warsaw, Radom and Cger on Wednesday. On the same day, they were taken to the Katowice branch of the National Prosecutor's Office. The questioning lasted almost till Thursday morning. Then, the operation continued with some of the suspects.
As we received information from the prosecutor's office, the arrested persons, including Wojciech Olejniczak, the former head of the SLD and the former minister of agriculture, were accused. The prosecutor's office has not yet disclosed their contents.
The spokesman of the National Prosecutor's Office, prosecutor Przemysław Novak, reported on Wednesday X that the case concerns crimes of an economic nature. According to unofficial information, the arrests are related to the case of Alior Bank regarding the granting of a loan to Zaklad Miesne Henrik Kania. At that time, the arrested Voyceh Olejničak was the head of the agricultural trade department in Alior.
In 2020, Miesne Kania, formerly the market leader, went bankrupt in Pschina. Their founder, Henrik Kania, died a few days ago. His son Henrik, who took over the management of this company, is the main suspect in the investigation at the Silesia PKS branch. He was wanted on an international arrest warrant and a European arrest warrant.
