During the election campaign, Donald Trump announced the largest deportation in American history. He repeated the promise so much that it reached the immigrants who are going to the United States, even though they are still a long way from the border. Convoys of people from Honduras, Venezuela and other South American countries pass through Mexico. For them, this is a struggle against time. They have until Jan. 20 to reach the border, as they hope to still be able to enter the United States.
They say they had no choice but to flee Venezuela. – If Trump watches us, if he listens to us, please give us a chance. We are with children. We left the country not because we wanted to, but because of it. I am a nurse. I voted against Maduro and was fired, says Javi Yperi, a Venezuelan immigrant.
The caravan of immigrants heading to the United States is running out of time. They want to reach the US border before the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20. Even during stops, reaching the border is the main theme.
– On the one hand, Trump's victory worries us, but on the other hand, I believe that he really has a heart, he has his own family. He fights for the betterment of his country. If he is chosen, it means he must have something good in him, says the elder Hernandez, an immigrant from Honduras.

“Tsar of the border” on patrol
Donald Trump has already spoken with the president of Mexico, who has promised him that migrants coming through his country will not reach the southern border of the United States. Because of this, the convoy is accompanied almost every step of the way by Mexican immigration agents.
– The United States, like all countries, wants to protect its borders. That is why they return the immigrants. Mexico wants to avoid imposing high tariffs on them, so maybe local agents are trying to convince us to go back to Tapachula, but we continue, Luisa Bejarano, a Venezuelan immigrant, insists.
In Texas, members of the incoming Trump administration and his supporters are assuring residents that the president-elect's promise of mass deportations will be fulfilled.
– The consequence of the largest immigration crisis in our nation's history must be mass deportations, because data from a decade ago shows that nine out of ten people lose their asylum cases but are not deported. Where are we going wrong? – says Tom Homan, adviser to President Donald Trump on US border security.

The first pieces of wall
Tom Homan hailed by Trump as “border king”. He should be responsible for dealing with the migration crisis at the highest level. But Trump is assisted by officials at much lower levels, such as the Texas land commissioner.

“I have proposed to President Trump and future border kingpin Tom Homan to use this land to build an immigration detention center and administer the largest deportation of violent criminals in our nation's history,” said Dr. Dawn Buckingham, Texas Land Commissioner.
The center proposed by Commissioner Buckingham will be built on more than five hundred acres of land that Texas purchased from previous owners who did not agree to the construction of the wall. A few hours after the transaction, the construction permit was given, and on Tuesday, the first pieces of the more than eight-meter wall were erected there.
