Donald Trump has announced that he will impose 100% tariffs on the products of the BRICSC countries if they threaten the position of the dollar as the most important currency in international economic relations. “They must say goodbye to the ability to trade within the great US economy,” Trump wrote.
Donald Trump, the president-elect of the USA, wrote on his Truth social networks: “We demand that these countries do not create a new currency within the BRICS organization or use another currency to replace the US dollar.” He noted that if BRICS members do not heed this warning, “their products will face 100 percent tariffs and they will have to say goodbye to the ability to trade within the great American economy.”

False information from Russia or China
In August, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva proposed at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg to create a currency within the organization that would allow them to be independent of the dollar. But this idea was not accepted by other BRICS countries. According to the Polish Institute of International Relations (PISM), alarming theses about the decline of the dollar appearing in public debates are unfounded and may be part of disinformation from Russia or China.
Meeting of Trudeau and Trump
On Friday evening (Saturday in Poland), Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The leaders dined together at the president-elect's residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, and their conversation focused on trade and the border between the two countries. American television ABC reported that Trudeau told reporters waiting for him outside the hotel on Saturday that his conversation with Trump was “great” but did not answer any other questions. Trudeau is the first leader of a G7 country to meet directly with Trump since the election.
