Billboard hailed Beyoncé as “The Biggest Pop Star of the 21st Century.” Since August, the magazine in its ranking among the 25 best pop artists of the last 25 years has been revealing the names of the winners of the following positions one after another. Little by little, he mentioned Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Britney Spears or Lady Gaga among others. After she placed Rihanna in third place, it became clear that the battle for victory would be between Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
When Taylor Swift took second place on Tuesday, the internet went into an uproar. In the comments under the “Billboard” post on Instagram, fans of the artist expressed their anger. “Taylor deserved to win”, “I believed that she would win”, “She deserved the first place” – they wrote. Some also drew attention to the number of his various records. They argued that “Taylor beats Beyoncé in every digital category” and that her results “speak for themselves.”
