The police recorded the driver of the truck on the C1 lane, who overtook a similar vehicle in Tychy. This type of maneuver, called “elephant race”, has been banned for more than a year. The driver paid a thousand zlotys for it.
At the beginning of July 2023, a ban on trucks overtaking other vehicles was introduced into the traffic rules. Valid on freeways and highways with two lanes in one direction. Unfortunately, not everyone follows these rules.

On Monday afternoon, SPEED police officers in Tichi observed that the driver of an Iveco truck overtook a truck while driving on the S1 route. The incident was caught on video footage of an unmarked police car. They stopped the driver to check the road. He is a 42-year-old resident of Sizin district. He received a fine of PLN 1,000 and eight penalty points.
“The ban on overtaking of trucks by other trucks on highways and two-lane highways in one direction is intended to improve traffic flow on the main communication routes,” Tichi police said in a statement.
Even in the short video attached to this post, you can see trucks driving past and blocking the road.
The police also remind that if the driver commits such a violation again, the fine will be up to 2000 PLN and his account will increase by another 8 penalty points.
