War in Ukraine. Robert Fico: “They will be betrayed by the West”
In an interview with Brazilian media, he suggested that the country would have to say goodbye to the shape of its borders that existed before the conflict with Russia.
– Ukraine was caught up in a history that could never end well for the country. He said it would lose territory and not be invited to join NATO.
The Slovak prime minister was also skeptical of the announcement of Western troops entering Ukraine, which would guarantee Ukraine's security before joining the North Atlantic Alliance. President Emmanuel Macron put forward such a proposal, and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that he would take it into account.
– I think Ukraine will lose a third of its territory, but it will be provided with security, such as the presence of foreign troops. If this is considered the welfare of Ukraine that everyone is talking about, the Ukrainians will be betrayed, Robert Fico said.
He added that only a ceasefire and entry into negotiations could resolve the conflict with Russia.
