Unmanned drones near military bases
The issue of drones in New Jersey — some of which were said to be the size of large cars — gained a lot of attention this week after the announcement by Republican Congressman Jeff Van Drew.
He claimed that the planes over his state – some near military bases – were Iranian drones sent by an Iranian “mother ship” based off the US East Coast.

The White House is responding to the reports
National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Thursday that the U.S. Coast Guard had confirmed it. He added that despite the use of “advanced detection measures”, federal services have not been able to confirm any drone reports.
He noted that many of them relate to manned aircraft, including helicopters. But Kirby assured that the White House is taking the challenge seriously.
However, this explanation did not convince some politicians. On Friday, former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan released a video of himself purporting to show potential drones as points of light in a dark sky, saying the authorities' response was still “completely unacceptable.”
“I join a growing bipartisan chorus of leaders demanding that the federal government address this issue immediately. The American people deserve answers and action now,” said the Republican at Platform X. Other politicians, including Chris Smith, Congressman New Jersey made the same call. .
Drones in Germany and the UK
In recent weeks, there have been reports of drone sightings around US military bases in other parts of the world. In late November, the US Air Force reported sightings of “small unmanned systems” in various configurations around Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Feltwell air bases in the UK.
There were also reports of similar incidents around German bases. The Pentagon has not yet explained the origin of these facilities in Britain, but has determined that they do not pose a security threat.
