The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has announced that Air Tanzania has been added by the European Commission to the list of 129 operators banned from flying to and from the European Union.
Friday's update of the EU's aviation security list was drawn up by experts from member states who discussed the issue in Brussels on November 19-21, 2024.
Apostolos Tzitzikostas, Commissioner for Transport and Sustainable Tourism, said on Friday: “I have offered assistance to the Tanzanian Commission to improve Air Tanzania's safety performance and achieve full compliance with international aviation standards.”

Blacklist of airlines
The EU Airline Safety List is a list of airlines that do not meet the required international safety standards and are therefore subject to operating restrictions or a total ban on flights within the EU.
There are currently 129 operators on this list. Of these, 100 airlines certified in 15 countries are being prosecuted by the European Union due to insufficient safety control by the aviation authorities of these countries. 22 other Russian companies and seven other airlines were accused of serious safety lapses; These included Air Tanzania, Air Zimbabwe, Avior Airlines from Venezuela, Blue Wing Airlines from Suriname, Iran Aseman Airlines and Fly Bagdad and Iraqi Airways from Iraq.
