1. Election of the president of Georgia in the shadow of protests
In the presidential elections of Georgia, 224 out of 300 voters, including members of parliament and representatives of local authorities, supported Mikhail Kavelashvili and elected him to this position. He was the only candidate. He is supported by the ruling Georgian Dream party in this country. Representatives of the opposition did not participate in the vote.
This is the first time in history that presidential elections in Georgia are not held by direct voting. The swearing-in ceremony of the new head of state is expected on December 29.

3. An investigation is ongoing regarding the declaration of assets of Kinga Gaevska
According to the spokesman of the Warsaw district prosecutor's office, prosecutor Piotr Skiba, since October of this year, the investigation into violations of the law in the declaration of assets of the representative of the Civil Alliance, Kinga Gajewska, has been ongoing.
The demand in Gajewska's statement refers to the house in Błonie near Warsaw, which the deputy received as a donation from his parents in August 2023. “According to the regulations, he had 30 days to report this fact to the list of privileges kept by the Speaker of the Seimas. Meanwhile, he did it only after 392 days, already in the current parliamentary term,” – wrote Virtual Poland.

4. Duda at the IOC, Tusk about “maneuvering the president”
The Polish Olympic Committee on Thursday recommended President Andrzej Duda to the membership of the International Olympic Committee. Officially, this will take place in 2026, after his term ends.
