Rafal Trzaszkowski, the candidate of the Civil Alliance in next year's presidential elections, announced during his Sunday visit to Zosin (Lublin Voivodeship) that he “has great respect for Magdalena Bietyat”. In the same way, he commented on the decision of the National Council of the New Left, that the candidate of this group will be the deputy chairman of the Senate.
Magdalena Biehat is the vice president of the Senate in the current term. He was one of the activists of the “Razem” party, but at the end of October of this year, he left this group along with four other members of the parliament. Biet remained in the left club and did not join any party.
On Sunday, the National Council of the New Left decided that Biejat will be the candidate of the New Left in next year's presidential elections.
Trzaskowski: I respect Magdalena Bietat very much
Rafal Trzaskovski, the candidate of the civil coalition in next year's presidential elections, explained the decision of the new left party during his Sunday visit to Zosin (Lublin province). – I respect Magdalena Biehat very much, and as it is known, she was my opponent in Warsaw (in the elections of local authorities – ed.), and I also assess her political career very positively, – answered Trzaskovsky briefly.
So far, in addition to Trzaskovsky and Bieyat, Karol Nawrocki, head of the PiS-backed National Memorial Institute, has announced his participation in the presidential election; Marshal of the Sejm, leader of Poland 2050 Szymon Holounia; co-chairman of the confederation Slawomir Mentzen; Deputy Marek Jakubiak from the group of Free Republicans and the president of the National Federation of “non-partisan and local government” Marek Voch.
Duda at the IOC?
The president of Warsaw also explained the decision of the POC board, which on Thursday approved the candidacy of Andrzej Duda for the membership of the International Olympic Committee.
Trzaskowski announced that in his opinion “it was some kind of mistake”. – I agree that President Duda apparently “maneuvered” into such a situation, – said Trzaskowski, adding, “I don't believe that he really wants to take the position of the title athlete” (now Poland's representative in the ICO). Poland's Olympic medalist is Maja Wloszchowska.
– President Duda, of course, has some achievements in sports, I share his enthusiasm for skiing, but there are definitely people who are more worthy of Polish sports and they should fulfill these honorable duties, – explained Trzaskowski.
