A 46-year-old man was injured and burned as a result of a gas explosion in an apartment building in Świętokrzysławice in the Silesian Voivodeship, the fire service reported. 40 tenants were evacuated from the building. According to preliminary information, the accident occurred during the repair of a gas heater.
The spokesperson of the regional headquarters of the State Fire Service in Katowice, Brigadier Aneta Golebovska, reported that the accident happened around 19:30. Gas exploded in an apartment on the first floor of a five-story building on Zubrzitskyego Street. – The gas heater exploded in the bathroom – she said.
Senior Captain Rafal Binieda of the Municipal Police Office in Świętokrzysław said that the explosion was so strong that the window and door of the balcony of the apartment were broken. The 46-year-old victim suffered burns, was conscious and was taken to the emergency medical team. – There were two other people in the same apartment who did not complain about any signs – said the fireman.
