In the evening, the ground collapsed at the construction site of the new metro station. – We saw a three-meter hole in the ground – Mariusz Kapsa, a graduate student from the capital's fire service, told Kontakt24. Residents of three blocks do not have access to water and electricity.
The news about the water well reached the Warsaw Fire Department after 8:00 p.m. – Water was spilled during the construction of the metro station in Bemovo. We saw a depth of about three meters in the ground. The lower parts of the metro were also flooded. Activities are ongoing – Mariusz Kapsa from the press team of PSP Warsaw KM reported to Kontakt24 editors after 22:00.
In an interview with tvn24.pl, Bartos Savicki, the press spokesman of Gulermak – the general contractor for the construction of the metro, explained that the ground collapsed at the construction site of the new station of the second metro line on Ludomila Ryskiego Street in Bemovo. – There were installations on the ground that supply the surrounding blocks with electricity and water. Savitsky said that at the moment, three blocks of apartments on Raiskiego street do not have water or electricity.
Residents of the block of Raiskiego Street, number 7, were asked to take their cars out of the underground garage. It is now impossible to enter the garage. Savicki said the “situation is under control,” including work to restore power and water to residents. – There is no threat to the neighboring buildings – said Sawicki.
Firefighters are on scene and pumping out water. The pit does not affect the operation of the subway.
