America should control Greenland and the Panama Canal is already America, says Donald Trump in a speech at a conference of conservatives. Greenland is worth trillions of frozen raw materials and a stopover on the way to Europe, and the Panama Canal is an invaluable shortcut.
The first plane landed at Nuuk International Airport. This touch represents the next step in Greenland's development – it is designed to make it easier for tourists to reach it and bring additional income to the local community.
The opening ceremony took place less than a month ago. Now the president-elect of the United States has claimed the largest island in the world, which geographically belongs to the North American continent. Donald Trump suggested that the autonomy administered by Denmark should belong to the United States.
“For the purposes of national security and freedom around the world, the United States of America believes that possession and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity,” Donald Trump tweeted.
Donald Trump also announced his candidacy as ambassador to Denmark for Ken Howery, a billionaire and friend of Elon Musk, who was already ambassador to Sweden during the first Trump administration. “Ken is doing a wonderful job representing the interests of the United States. Thank you, Ken, and congratulations,” the president-elect wrote.

Prime Minister of Greenland: We cannot lose our fight for freedom
Already in 2019, in his first term, the Republican said that he was thinking about buying Greenland. He canceled his trip to Denmark when the country's authorities said the island was not for sale. This time, the local government made such a clear statement.
Prime Minister of Greenland Mute Egede wrote: “Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be.

Now 80 percent of Greenland is covered by ice. This makes it difficult to mine the rich deposits, but global warming and climate change mean that the cover is falling. According to this year's UN report, ice turns into two and a half million liters of water every second. Therefore, scientists are urging us to adhere to the provisions of the Paris Agreement, which Donald Trump wants to withdraw from.
– We are approaching some point of no return. Ice in Greenland and parts of Antarctica is melting, causing catastrophic sea levels to rise. That is why the goal is to limit warming by one and a half degrees. We try to keep it as close as possible, – emphasizes prof. Liz Bentley, director of the Royal Meteorological Society, is a meteorologist at the University of Reading.

Shocking statement of Trump
The Republican, who takes office in less than a month, spoke to a crowd of conservatives from the Turning Point Movement on Sunday. His speech contained more controversial statements. He threatened from the stage that he would restore American control over the Panama Canal.
– They are tearing us apart in such a way that it is shameful. The ships of our navy and merchant fleet are treated unfairly and unjustifiably. The fee charged by Panama is ridiculously high and it is very unfair. Especially when we think about the extraordinary generosity we have shown to Panama. This is the injustice of the United States, this kind of dismemberment of our country. This must end immediately, said Donald Trump.
The authorities of the country have completely rejected this possibility. – Every square meter of the Panama Canal and the surrounding areas belongs to Panama and will remain so. The sovereignty and independence of our country is not subject to negotiation, the President of Panama Jose Raul Mulino emphasizes.
Then the future president wrote on his social networks: “We will see,” and then added a photo of the channel with an American flag and the inscription: “Welcome to the channel of the United States.”

At the same meeting with his supporters in Arizona, Donald Trump announced that he intends to change the name of the highest peak in North America – Denali to Mount McKinley in honor of William McKinley – the 25th president of the United States.
– McKinley was the president who raised a huge amount of money for the United States, which was then spent by Teddy Roosevelt. So let's just say they were both great presidents. But McKinley did. And that's one of the reasons we're bringing back the Mount McKinley name, because I think it deserves it. – argues Donald Trump.
The name Denali comes from the language used by the native Alaskans and means “big mountain”. It was introduced by the Democrats during the administration of Barack Obama. The state of Alaska has been demanding this from the federal authorities for years.
