At least 12 people were killed in an explosion at a Turkish ammunition factory. Several more people were injured. Authorities set up a special committee to investigate the cause of the explosion.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning in the town of Kavakli in Turkey's northwestern province of Balkesir.
The country's Interior Minister Ali Erikaya confirmed that the explosion killed 12 people and injured four others. He added that there was no sign of sabotage.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion. For this purpose, an expert committee was established consisting of chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, occupational safety experts and geophysicists.

CNN Turkey released footage showing a fireball and plumes of smoke rising above the factory.
According to local media, the factory specializes in producing ammunition for light weapons and has been in operation since 2014.

“We are deeply saddened by the deaths of 12 of our brothers,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on the X Platform.
“I would like to express my condolences to the family and pray for the early recovery of the injured,” he added.
