A city guard patrol noticed a boy in the crowd of the Old City who looked nervous. The child did not react to the guard's words. It turned out that a family from Syria, which participated in the demonstration, disappeared from his sight for a moment.
Christmas market, ice rink in the market square, Christmas lights, traditional tourist traffic and sometimes public gatherings. The Old Town attracts many people during the pre-Christmas weekend, so an increased force of city guards ensures the safety of those in attendance.
He distrusted people in uniform
On Sunday, December 22, around 1:30 p.m., one of the security guards noticed a small boy in the crowd who looked very nervous. The child looked around, approached people who reminded him of someone, but no one paid attention to him. “A city guard approached the child and tried to start a conversation with him. The boy did not respond to his words. Despite trying to communicate in several languages, he did not seem to understand what was being said. He took the child by the hand and led him to the police car. “The boy did not trust the people in uniform and hugged him and tried to calm him down,” said the statement of the city guard.
The wardens have also asked the duty officers to determine if anyone has reported the child missing. While they were waiting for an answer, a foreign family approached the guards. The frightened child came to life and hugged a small child with a Syrian flag on his back who was the first to arrive at the police car. After some time, he was joined by a group of adults, including the mother of a three-year-old child.

He got lost during the show
As it turned out, this family took part in the demonstration “Free Syria” in Qala square, during which the child was lost in the crowd. The disappearance had already been reported to the police.
“When he saw his relatives, the boy cried, spoke to the Arabic-speaking family and hugged the woman. The staff – for formality – checked the documents and found that it was really his mother. There was only one thing left to tell them. Dispatcher information for other services that the missing child in the Old City is no longer valid.” – continued the city guards.
Officers also remind them that it's a good idea to wear a so-called safety harness when going with a child to a crowded place. “The Missing Clause”. A bracelet with a loved one's phone number will make it easier to contact you if your child goes missing. It is also important to identify children with people in uniform as trustworthy (which, of course, can be difficult in the case of Syrian refugees), in which case the child should turn to them.
