– Currently, there is no signal from the diplomatic channels that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu intends to participate in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp from the Nazi Germans, – said Masei Berek, the permanent leader. Committee of the Council of Ministers, in the program “#BezKitu” on TVN24. He added that the work of the Council of Ministers on the resolution on the possible participation of Israeli authorities in the event started in December, a few weeks ago, with Andrzej Duda’s letter to Donald Tusk.
On Thursday, the Polish government adopted a decision in which it announced that it will ensure the free and safe participation of high-ranking Israeli representatives in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. Earlier, President Andrzej Duda addressed Donald Tusk regarding the Prime Minister of Israel, who is being prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in connection with Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip.
On Friday, on TVN24, the decision of the government to adopt this resolution was explained by Machei Berek, the head of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers. – The government has said that it will create conditions and guarantee that this holiday will be celebrated by all those who wish to participate in it, he said.
– We are talking about a dramatic history, a place where torture is one of the biggest genocides in human history. We are talking about the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp, and this anniversary should be celebrated, he added.
Berek emphasized that the work on the concept of the resolution was done by the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski in consultation with the Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The work was supposed to start a few weeks ago. – It was already known in December that this case is on the horizon as a challenge for consideration – said Berek.
At the same time, he stated that there is no indication that the Prime Minister of Israel will attend the anniversary. – All signs indicate that this potential confrontation and legal challenge will not materialize at all. At the moment, there is no signal from diplomatic channels that the Prime Minister of Israel intends to participate in the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, he said.

Minister Berek about the action of President Duda
– We know our responsibility, we know the calendar, we know the content of these holidays. We knew what to do. Therefore, I will only note the president’s speech for what it was, said Berek, referring to Andrzej Duda’s letter to Donald Tusk. – This means that this move of the president neither made us stronger nor brought any benefit, – he added.
President Andrzej Duda sent a letter to Prime Minister Donald Tusk in which he asked the Polish government to support the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, if he comes to Poland to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Bloomberg first reported this on Thursday.
While presenting the decision on Thursday, the head of government also referred to Duda’s letter. – For many days, we received information from the embassy that the state of Israel is represented by the Minister of Education, therefore, in general, this whole issue has become a political demonstration and is completely unnecessary, – he explained.

Berek on the decision of the National Electoral Commission: I advise Domanski to wait a little
Maciej Berek explained the decision of the National Electoral Commission on money for PiS. At the end of December, following the decision of the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court, the National Electoral Commission accepted the financial report of the PiS committee from the parliamentary elections of 2023, emphasizing to determine whether IKNiSP is a court. After Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski asked the National Electoral Commission to interpret its decision on the grounds of “internal opposition content”, the National Electoral Commission asked him to “immediately” show the legal basis for this request.
The guest of TVN24 said that the head of the Ministry of Finance consulted him before sending his request to the National Election Commission. “We had the opportunity to talk more than once,” said the minister. In his opinion, the content of the letter sent by Domansky to the National Election Commission is “a very good procedure for this issue”. – Because we cannot forget in this history what it was like, – he added. He mentioned that PiS representatives misused public funds “in an outrageous and blatant manner”.
When asked what advice he would give Domanski in this situation, Berek replied that he would advise him to “be patient”. – We have the statements of the members of the National Election Commission, who say: “in fact, we should consider this resolution, because it is not known”, – said the minister.
Three warrants for his arrest
In November, the ICC issued three arrest warrants: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, and Hamas commander Mohammed Deif. They were charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the conflict in the Gaza Strip. According to Israel, the terrorist was killed under the supervision of Hamas, who died within half a year between the prosecutor’s application and the court’s decision in this case. But Hamas neither confirmed nor denied this news.
The war in the Gaza Strip began in October 2023 when Hamas attacked Israel. As a result, 1200 people were killed and more than 250 people were captured. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 45,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the conflict began.
