– I was a member of the Klodzko commune crisis management team. I asked them to bring a refrigerator and a generator. After a week of trying to find out where it arrived, no one knew anything about it. It was scary for me. We reacted immediately. A friend took the fridge that we got from Mr. Mikolaj from Zagaynik. This was again private aid. Those were scary moments. When I was there a month ago, I cried again, – admitted volunteer Arthur Chablo, who has been helping the residents of Klodzko for more than three months. The situation in the city after the flood in September is difficult. The affected residents complain about the lack of local and government assistance. WP reporter Jakub Bujnik met with volunteers who selflessly help the victims. Arthur Chablo admitted that he still has to do a lot of work himself because he cannot count on government support. In front of our camera, he mentioned the story of an old man who suffers from diabetes and lost all his medicines, including the very important insulin, during a flood. The local authorities ignored our interlocutor’s request, which only confirmed his belief that nothing was working properly. – Without people like me, if there were no other volunteers, this help would not have reached here. “Private help and help of volunteers while the officials are not doing anything, so to speak, is their nose,” he added.
