– We were among the first people to evacuate. The notifications went off at 11:00 and 15:00, but we didn’t know it. We thought we were just going out for a date, says Roza Dobrowolska, a Pole living in California.

At night, our group went to the hills of the eastern wall of the biggest fire, where there was a curfew and an evacuation order – there were only firefighters with their equipment waiting for the fire to arrive.

– We know that people are also a little shy to go to these main points and ask directly what they need, so they prefer to go to Instagram or their friends go to Instagram and we have packages for them we prepare a personal one, – says Elvira Abramchuk, a Pole who lives in California.
