He stated that he is a citizen of Sweden. He even had a Swedish passport, but not with his photo. He also had other documents, including those issued by the Burundian authorities. He did not fly anywhere, he was charged and must return to Germany, where he has the right to legal residence.
The incident happened at Warsaw’s Chopin Airport while passengers were checking in for a flight to Toronto.
– During border control, this man presented a Swedish passport, in which the image of the owner of the document was different from the image of the person holding it. To confirm the tourist’s version and further check, the tourist was directed to the second border control line, where the officers additionally found other documents from him: a German residence, a boarding pass for a flight to Toronto, and an original identity document from given by the authorities of Burundi, – says Dagmara Bielek from the Nadwislanski border guard unit in a statement.

He confessed and explained
In a conversation with the border guards, the man admitted that he is a citizen of Burundi, not Sweden – as he stated during registration. He has the right to live legally in Germany. He was arrested. A preparatory case has been opened against him for attempting to cross the state border, contrary to regulations, by deception, using another person’s passport during border control. He admitted his guilt in this case and made comments.

He must return to Germany
After confirming and confirming the Burundian’s legal residence status in this country, the German side instructed him to immediately return to Germany and then be released.
