It is amazing, the great support we have received from you. It’s so great when words that hurt hurt a lot – said Jerzy Owsiak, head of the Great Christmas Charity Orchestra in “Fact po Factach” on TVN24. In the program, among other things, he talked about the recent threats against the mayor of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz and the upcoming 33rd final of the Great Christmas Charity Orchestra.
The 33rd final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will take place on Sunday 26th January. The main topic is the safety and health of children, with the slogan “We play for health!”. The money raised will be allocated to the needs of pediatric hematology and oncology. Some traditional initiatives – such as the Warsaw “Count yourself a diabetic!” – will be organized on Saturday, January 25.
On Saturday, Owsiak posted a post on social media targeting the mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, who recently received threats against her. They referred to the stabbing murder of former Gdańsk president Pawel Adamowicz during the finale of the Great Christmas Charity Orchestra six years ago.

– The president is my daughter’s age. My daughter also has her own children, and like a father, like a family, like me and Dzidzia (Ovsiak’s wife Lidia – ed.), we feel these things incredibly. It’s just fear. It is often said that words can kill, not just pain, he said. He added that “fear is something even worse, because it is something that sinks into you when you are alone, when you are sleeping, and eats you (…)”.
Ovsiak himself was a victim of hate speech at the beginning of the year. On Friday, police arrested another man who threatened to kill the leader of the Great Christmas Charity Orchestra. This is 39-year-old Daniel D., who was brought to the Radom prosecutor’s office on Saturday. This man is threatened with up to 3 years in prison.

Owsiak: all the Poles gathered
In regards to the upcoming 33rd annual Grand Christmas Charity Orchestra finale, Owsiak thanked everyone involved in supporting the orchestra. – It’s amazing, the great support we received from you. But it’s great when there are words that hurt, hurt a lot. And immediately another million words will appear, – he emphasized.
As one of the examples of participation in support of WOŚP, Owsiak mentioned the run “Count with Diabetes”, which can also be entered in a virtual way. – People (as a place of work – ed.) choose oil platforms somewhere in the world to complete this 5 km, – he noted.
The head of the Great Christmas Charity Orchestra noted that the whole day of the orchestra finale is “the beautiful history of Poland, the history of building this Poland, the history of Polish medicine and our participation.”
– Our equipment is everywhere, we teach everywhere and this is the best thing that NGOs can do. This is not a criticism of the system. It is said that the civil society should act in the same way, he said. He added, this society “must take care of the gaps that are sometimes difficult for the system (to fill – ed.).
