The appeal process of the former vice president of Gdańsk for education and social services has ended. The District Court of Gdańsk upheld the verdict of Piotr K. A former local government employee was sentenced to one year in prison and three years in prison for assaulting a minor. The verdict is now final.
The trial of Piotr K, the former vice president of Gdansk for education and social services, ended on Tuesday in the Gdansk district court. The trial in both cases took place behind closed doors.
– The district court did not accept any appeal and found the disputed verdict correct. Therefore, the judgment of the district court is final from today, and the penalties and sanctions provided for in it will be enforceable, said the press spokesman of the Gdansk district court, judge Mariusz Kazmierczak.
The first-instance court found the accused, the former vice-president of Gdańsk Piotr K., guilty and sentenced him to one year in prison and three years in prison. The court also imposed a punishment measure in the form of a ban on engaging in professions and activities related to education, upbringing, care and treatment of minors for a period of five years. Peter K. cannot approach the victim at a distance of at least 100 meters and cannot contact the victim for five years.
The former vice-president of Gdańsk must also pay PLN 5,000 to the injured party. PLN as compensation.
Another vice president presented the notice
We remind you that this case started with a notice sent by the deputy mayor of Gdańsk. The notice was sent to the prosecutor’s office on July 19, 2021, and was registered in the prosecutor’s office a day later. The investigation of this case was started on August 2, 2021. It was carried out by the Gdansk-Oliwa District Prosecutor’s Office.
The former local government official disappeared from local politics after resigning as vice president for education and social services in November 2020. He announced his decision on Facebook, citing “personal reasons.” The resignation was kept secret until almost the end, and city officials were informed of it after a press conference by city officials.
Piotr K. since 2014 he has been working as the deputy mayor of Gdansk and since 2010 he has been working with the city government.
