As part of the deal, they have already made a formal apology and Harry will also have to receive a large compensation from them. “Monumental victory, lies exposed,” the prince said in a statement.

“In a monumental victory today, News UK has acknowledged that The Sun, the flagship of Rupert Murdoch’s British media empire, has indeed engaged in illegal practices,” Prince Harry and Tom Watson said in a joint statement. “Today the lies were exposed. Today what was hidden was revealed. And today proves that no one is above the law. It’s time to take responsibility.”
Harry Newspapers and News Group deal. The company apologizes to the prince
As part of the settlement, NGN admitted that Harry was the victim of illegal activities by partners of The Sun tabloid, which has now been removed from the News of the World. The company issued an official apology to the prince. They raised the issue of “serious interference” in the life of the son of the British monarch.
Examples of violations against Harry, including: on the activities of private detectives hired by “The Sun”. He also mentioned listening to the conversations of this 40-year-old and other manifestations of his “control”. These were allegedly committed by the once famous “News of the World” journalists.
NGN Group also apologized for the impact its coverage of Harry and the late Princess Diana had on the prince. “We apologize for the suffering the prince has suffered and for the damage to his relationships, friendships and family relationships,” the statement said. As NBC News reminds, the prince sued the company in 2019. The hearing of the case was scheduled to begin this week.

The Adventure of Wiretapping in Great Britain
Wiretapping, used by the British tabloid press, became popular in 2011. At first, it was thought that this case concerns only “News of the World” of Rupert Murdoch. It was later revealed that the Sun newspaper, owned by the same owner, and the competing Daily Mirror also used this practice. Voicemails and email inboxes of celebrities, politicians and even crime victims have been hacked to obtain material for sensitive material.
News Group Newspapers has paid millions of pounds in settlements with more than a thousand others whose phone voicemails were hacked and tapped by Sun and News of The World journalists over the years. The case against News Group Newspapers is one of three that Harry has brought against British tabloids, accusing them of illegal data collection. The other two cases involved the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail.
