Two people have been killed and two more are hospitalized in critical condition after a knife attack in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. Police said the victims included a 2-year-old child. The assailant was arrested. He is an Afghan national.
The tragic incident took place last Tuesday in Schönthal Park in the German city of Aschaffenburg.

According to local police, two people were killed in the knife attack. A police officer in Lower Franconia said, “The two deceased were a 41-year-old man and a 2-year-old boy.”

The other two people are hospitalized in serious condition.
Attacked in the park. A 28-year-old man was arrested
Police announced on social media that the suspect had been arrested at the park where the attack occurred. The suspect is a 28-year-old Afghan national. He added that the threat has passed and there were no other suspects in the area.
Two people were initially arrested. Officers said the second person was a witness who was being questioned.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident in detail. The park is surrounded by a fence. Nearby trains were also temporarily suspended.
