The man hurt the woman who did not want to continue his relationship with him. She sent constant messages, left flowers and eventually appeared in the same places as him. He has already heard the charges.
It started innocently – with a random meeting, a short conversation and then a like on social media. A few months later, the first casual meeting took place over a glass of wine, which eventually turned into long conversations.
-However, after getting to know the man, the woman decided that she does not want to continue this relationship. That moment was the turning point that started a cycle of unhealthy behavior on his part, said Commissioner Eva Koldis, spokeswoman for the Mokotow police.
The man could not come to terms with the woman’s decision and began to take actions aimed at violating her privacy and comfort.
– He sent messages through all available channels, alternating expressions of love with insults. Bouquets of roses and messages of distress and despair were left outside her home. Moreover, the man began to appear in the places where the woman visited, which only intensified her fear – said Commissioner Eva Koldis.
WATCH: She broke the ban and stalked her ex-partner. The stalker was arrested.
He translated it as “deep feeling”.
The woman told the police that she began to determine the course of events and provide as much evidence as possible. – These actions are of decisive importance because in the case of prosecution, there is often a lack of clear evidence, and the criminal is able to control the situation, which complicates the trial. In this case, a 40-year-old man, after being charged, pleaded guilty and explained his behavior with “deep affection” for his victim, Commissioner Coldis said. As she noted, such arguments are common in harassment cases, but they cannot be used as an excuse for actions that are not only harmful but also dangerous.
According to the police, this case shows how easy it is to cross the boundaries necessary in interpersonal relationships.
Persecution can escalate
The policewoman emphasized that harassment has many forms and its consequences can be severe. Victims experience chronic stress, anxiety, depression and sleep problems. The psychological and emotional effects of bullying can lead to social isolation and problems in interpersonal relationships. From a legal point of view in Poland, harassment is a crime defined in art. 190a of the Criminal Code, and offenders can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years, and in extreme cases up to 10 years.

Responding to such behavior and reporting it to the appropriate services is extremely important. In response to the above-mentioned incidents, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Mokotów district of Warsaw issued a decision on police control and a ban on approaching the victim, the policewoman concluded.
