The Russians repair submarine cables in the Gulf of Finland – there the Coast Guard said. Damaged links belong to the Eastern Operator. The work will be carried out in the Finland economy under the supervision of the services.
The Russian ship joined in repair work on the Gulf of Finland, and the Finnish Coast Guard, a damaged cable belonging to the Russian operator, was notified on Saturday. Repairs will be carried out in Finland’s exclusive economic zone.
The situation was monitored by Finnish services and in the area a patrol ship was sent – it was forwarded in a message on Platform X. zone.

Finnish authorities were aware of the cable repair work “for a while” and issued permission for the Russian side. However, no detailed information regarding the damages was provided.

Kari Krem of the Finland Ministry of Economy told the YLE agency that two cables running between St. Petersburg and Kalingrad had broken in the Gulf of Finland. Information regarding their damages was received by the department on December 27th.
According to Klemma, repairs will last about a week depending on weather conditions.
Cable damage between Finland and Estonia
Kari Klemm did not comment in an interview with YLE if damages were involved in the Gulf of Finland event that occurred over Christmas. The Estlink 2 cable between Finland and Estonia was subsequently damaged.
