Amsterdam is located in the middle of the Indian Ocean about 2800 km southeast of the reunion, another territory of France overseas. It is one of the most isolated islands in the world. The fire broke out on January 15th and has not expired.
Mysterious fire on a remote island

The island has the scientific foundations of Martin-de-Vviews. It is known to have suffered from the flames, but “telecommunications infrastructure and water supply are no longer working, but the buildings are still standing” – assurances the provincial authorities.
The French frigate, Florium, was directed to a place to monitor the situation.
Biological gems burn
French “Le Monde” describes the island as a “jewel of biodiversity” engraved on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The island is deserted, only temporary scholars and soldiers finding shelter at Martin de Vivise’s base.
