Rachel Reeves’ online CV has exaggerated how long it has spent working at the Banque d’Engangre.
The Chancellor left the financial institution nine months earlier than she indicated in her Linkedin profile. This means that she spent five and a half years working at the bank – including almost a year studying – despite the public who claims to have spent a decade.
On the LinkedIn professional networking site, the Chancellor’s profile said that she was working at the Banque d’Engangre from September 2000 to December 2006.
However, BBC News established that she left in March 2006 when she started working for Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) in the West Yorkshire.

An old HR lead for the bank which helped the relocation of Reeves also said that she could remember her first day and that it was in March 2006.
A spokesperson for Reeves confirmed that the dates on his LinkedIn were inaccurate and said that it was due to an administrative error of the team.
They said the Chancellor had not seen him before his publication.
His profile was updated Thursday morning just before the BBC announced the news, to reflect that the Chancellor left the Bank of England in March 2006.
The rest of the profile was then published to clarify the dates it worked at Hbos.
The Chancellor cited her time as an economist at the Bank of England as part of the reason she can trust the country’s finances and has repeatedly said that he spent up to 10 years .
Reeves’ profile on the LinkedIn social media site said that she was working at the Banque d’Engleterre between September 2000 and December 2006
In an interview with magazine in 2021, which she later published on X, she said: “I spent a decade working as an economist at the Bank of England and I loved it.”
In a speech at the Labor Party Affairs Conference in February of last year, Reeves said: “I spent the best part of a decade as an economist at the Bank of England.”
She said the same thing in a speech at a CEO summit in July 2022, and in a video published on her Facebook page in the same month.
The complaint was also repeated in a Labor Party document last year which said that it had spent “most of the first decade of her career at the Bank of England”.
As she had already started in Hbos in the spring of 2006, her stay at the Central Bank was only five and a half years old. This included almost a year to study for a master at the London School of Economics (LSE).
Last year, during the previous controversy on the CV of Reeves, the Bank of England confirmed that Reeves left in 2006 but refused to give the month of departure by saying that it was a detailed record for staff that they could not provide.
Reeves also defended the election in Bromley in southeast London more than three months after taking a job in the West Yorkshire.
It was held during a by -election on June 29, 2006, but played a role at Hbos in March of the same year and received a relocation package to move from London. It is understood that she rented an apartment in Leeds and kept an apartment in London at that time.
The Chancellor’s online CV also gives incorrect dates for his stay in Hbos, which his team also recognized. He indicates that she left in December 2009, five months before being elected in Parliament in May 2010.
In fact, we have established that her job at Hbos finished in mid-May 2009 when she signed a compromise agreement. An invoice to obtain legal advice on the agreement said that it was born “from a decision of your employer to terminate your job”.
The bank was being restructured when Reeves’ departure and a chancellor spokesman said she had voluntary redundancy.
A compromise agreement, now known as a settlement agreement, is a legal document between an employer and an employee that HBOs used when senior executives were dismissed.

Reeves was authorized to continue using a works car for six months, according to his spokesperson.
She then spent a year campaigning before the general elections of May 2010 without asking for a new job.
The deputy for Leeds West and Pudsey has already faced charges that she has embellished her CV online.
His LinkedIn profile was changed last year to describe his role at Hbos as “retail banking”.
He had previously said that she was working as an economist at the bank, but rather held a management role in the bank’s customer relations department, which treated complaints.
In November, several deputies raised the row in the House of Commons while asking questions to the Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.
Prime Minister’s spokesperson also faced questions at that time, the journalists asking if Sir Keir expected the members of his cabinet to tell the truth about their CV.
The spokesperson said the row was linked to “Chancellor’s time before being the Chancellor”.
“The Prime Minister is very clear that what is most important is to have a chancellor who is able to balance books and who is able to be entitled with the public and restore public finances”, she added.
