A tomato monument will be erected in Iwiem – notifying the Belarusian government agency. The monument will be built by the end of July, allowing participants to enjoy the festival, which is planned at the beginning of August.
Potatoes seem to be in Belarus’ national interest, but the country has decided to honor another vegetable, tomato. Vieta, a propaganda agency, has given him a memorial honoring him in the town of Iwi in the Grodno region.
Local self-government has already written competition for statue projects. Not just sculptors and architects, but everyone who presents interesting suggestions can participate. The agency emphasizes that the involvement of educational institutions, students and teachers is welcome. Applications will be accepted by April 1st.
