Portugal is ready to send troops to Ukraine as part of its stabilization mission after the announcement of Thursday’s summit in Brussels. Prime Minister Louis Montenegro emphasized that his country is led by the principles of solidarity.
After an extraordinary peak of Brussels’ EU leadership, a declaration was made by Portuguese Prime Minister Louis Montenegro, who is ready to send troops to Ukraine from Thursday night to Friday night.
In an interview with native media, Montenegro designated Lisbon not to hesitate to lead soldiers to Ukraine “if necessary.”

Lewis Montenegro explained that Portugal, led by the principle of solidarity, along with its European Union allies, provides security to guarantee Kiev after the war with Russia.

“If European countries send troops to Ukraine, our soldiers will also appear there,” said Louis Montenegro.
The Portuguese Prime Minister emphasized that his country will not remain passive to ensure permanent peace in Ukraine. He added that decisions regarding the possibility of Portuguese participation in the conditions of the European Army will be “taken in stages.”
