The Point Defense Zoo and Aquarium in Washington state live in two Malay tapirs named Yuna and Baku. At the beginning of February, the couple descended – a woman named Umm.
She has white fur and white fur, so she becomes like a watermelon and a short trumpet on four legs, and is used to grip small objects. According to zoo employees, it helps young tapirs camouflage in the environment.

Malay Tapir – What is this species?

Murray tapirs are animals living lonely lives and have nighttime activities. They mainly eat leaves, buds and fruits, which contributes to supporting seed spread and forest biodiversity.
Young tapirs look completely different from adults – their hair is covered with numerous white spots and stripes on a brown background that resembles a watermelon pattern. This appearance provides effective camouflage between shadows cast by dense jungle leaves.
This species is exposed to extinction primarily due to marriage and human activities, which leads to the loss of his natural habitat. Malay tapirs are also exposed to poaching, but they are not typical hunting targets.
