The man went on desperately, hoping to return. He survived thanks to the nourishment of what he managed to catch.
When Maxi Monapa, 61, departed from the port of San Juan de Marcon in Peru on December 7th last year, he didn’t expect his journey to last long. Unfortunately, current and strong weather conditions meant that small fishing boats without navigation were far from the coast.
In an interview with local media, the man admitted that he drank rainwater and nourished cockroaches and birds to survive. If only he could even hunt turtles.

The 61-year-old admitted that he was kept by the idea of returning to his loved one. – I thought about my mother and my newborn granddaughter every day. It was their fault and I didn’t want to die – he said.
