The German foundation has tested several commercially sold Dubai chocolates. Special attention was paid to the taste and composition of the product. After all, the exclusive pistachio delicacy did not only fail to meet taste expectations, but also contained carcinogens in some cases.
The German Stiftung Warentest Foundation has analyzed a variety of Dubai chocolates, including products from well-known brands of Lindt, Fex Dessert and Le Damas. None of the six tested products were distinguished by quality or taste – “Der Spiegel” said.
In samples equipped with Fex dessert and Dubai chocolate kunafa & pistachio, according to Le Damas, substances produced in purified palm oil are detected and considered potentially carcinogenic (these are three monochloropropanodiols and glycidyl esters). Furthermore, the product contained aflatoxins, or mycotoxins. This occurs in pistachios and can be a health threat.
Second, four of the six test products did not meet the marking criteria. They contained incomplete or incorrect names of the materials. There was no information on the label for people with allergies.
