The preparations are underway: on Friday 9 August, WBA Asia will host a tournament in Vietnam, marking a milestone almost 30 years since its founding. Until 11 August, Ho Chi Minh City will become the Boxing Capital of Asia as part of a special event.
Led by WBA Asia with the support of the Vietnam Boxing Committee, the initiative will bring together the continent's boxing family over three days of intense organizational, academic, social and sporting activities.
The tournament will kick off on August 9th and will focus on reviewing the activities of the WBA regional organizations, introducing professional boxing in Vietnam, and announcing the schedule for the WBA Asian Games.
The WBA Asia and the Vietnam Boxing Committee will hold a referee seminar on August 10. A large number of referees and officials are expected to participate in this training activity. The seminar will be led by WBA Asia representatives Silvestre das Abainza, Noel Guerrero Haduca and Gregorio de la Cruz Ortega.
The WBA Asian Games will be a landmark in the history of boxing in Vietnam, as it will be the first time that a professional boxing tournament will be held in Vietnam. The support of the Vietnam Boxing Committee (VBC), the body appointed by the Vietnamese government to regulate boxing activities, has been crucial for this tournament.
The agenda prepared by WBA Asia will include an opportunity to learn about the association's projects for the development of the continent, as well as training sessions for officials, a boxing bout card for several regional titles and the introduction of a new tournament to develop new talent.
The agenda for the tournament can be found on the WBA Asia website at http://www.wbaasiaboxing.com/media/?nMt=vSingle&mCd=573
