Today we are joined in studio by film critic Patty Spitler, who shares her thoughts on the highly anticipated film “It Ends With Us,” which has just hit theaters.
Based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover, the film takes audiences on an emotional rollercoaster ride through the ups and downs of a romance gone wrong.
Patti described the book, published in 2016, as one of Huber's most challenging works.
The story centers on Lily, a young woman who moves to Boston to start a new life after the death of her abusive father.
Lily makes a new start and opens a flower shop, but soon her past begins to catch up with her.
Things take a dramatic turn when Lily's ex-boyfriend returns to find her entangled with a new lover – a dashing neurosurgeon.
This is not your typical love story, and as Patty details, the story becomes complicated when a darker side of her new boyfriend comes to the surface, leading to some shocking and heartbreaking moments.
Patti shared clips from the film that highlighted the intensity of the story, and she specifically pointed out the strong performance from Blake Lively, who plays Lily.
Lily finds herself trapped in a dangerous cycle of abuse and tensions mount as she desperately tries to escape.
Patti noted the film's emotional weight and its PG-13 rating for some violence and sexual content. She gave the film a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
